We had a checkup this week with shots, all went well. Hondo is up to 31 lbs.
He was playing catch/fetch last Saturday, but now he turns it into keep away sometimes!
He is getting used to Joe, protecting us by barking at guests. Joe has to be gentle and cautious around him, but i can do pretty much whatever I want ! But, I dont think I could love him more.... :)

Week Three:21Mar15
Last week we had a road trip to Minnesota to meet Manolo and Maria. It was a fun weekend, but Hondo was so happy to get home! He discovered the joy of running back and forth in the front yard for no apparent reason. And then...he saw chickens in the back and went chasing. He didn't chase the way our other dogs always have, he runs around them in circles. He has gained 5 pounds to be 30.8# now. yesterday he found he could jump onto the bed , but he has only done it twice, still waits to be picked up. At 30# I may oblige him yet, but not much longer!
He is getting used to Joe, even looks for him, if he thinks Joe is carrying hotdogs.;)
He has regressed into wetting in the house, I'm paying attention to prior activites that could be triggers: guarding his food from Max, just waking up, too happy to see me. :)
Well that's all for now, enjoy your daze, thanks for sharing .

WeekOne: 8Mar15
The purpose of this blog is to help other new puppy owners by facing common problems and discussing solutions. Hopefully it will be useful.
We brought home our 3 month old Bouvier (this is a large breed dog that doesn't shed)last Saturday. If dog is man's best friend, then our Bouvier is not a dog. He loves me and is the cuddly puppy I've been searching for. Large enough to be a dog, without the shedding! He is, however, very fearful of sudden movements and loud noises. To say that my husband, Joe scares the "crap" out of him would be quite literal. My husband has been the go to guy for all of our dogs, but this one has claimed me!
He was named Boing by his parents' people, but we just couldn't go around calling "Here, Boing,Boing, Boing", so we renamed him Hondo, after one of John Wayne's movies.
We haven't had much housebreaking to do, so I guess he is pretty smart with great control.
He is however, very fearful and still prefers NOT to walk outside, on a leash, especially. He is much better now entering week two, though. Week one found me carrying him everywhere-at 25 lbs.-not that I minded (my grandchildren all live pretty far from here.) :)
His eating is sporadic, and his demeanor is still cautious, but we can see where Boing may have been a suitable name from time to time.
Well, he is calling, so it must be naptime or playtime, until next week! Chao!
